The homicide of George Floyd by police officers in the USA, the femicides in Turkey, the continuing wars around the world that keeps harming innocent people for the sake of gaining temporary power... These are just a few recent human-made disasters that are directed at other humans that we are mostly aware of. However, this cycle of harm and destruction started a long time ago. The use of black people as slaves in America, the Holocaust, the two World Wars and many more...

Hearing about these cruelties makes me question, why can’t we live harmoniously despite our differences? Why do we have a constant belief that one should be superior to the other because we are not the same? Why do we keep punishing people because of the traits they never chose to have? Why is it so hard to acknowledge that our uniqueness is what makes us special?

It scares me that we are trying to make everything perfect. We’re forgetting that if something is perfect, then it isn’t real. This means that we’re trying to make everything into something they are not, something artificial, which show the decreasing levels of authenticity in our society. If everyone in the world was “normal”, this planet would be uninhabitable. To prevent chaos, we need “crazy” humans as well, who are not ashamed of their flaws. People who can dare to change the way they perceive each other. People who are not afraid of acknowledging and accepting others’ “beauty” and “ugliness”, “success” and “failures”. People who are truly honest with each other. People who are “crazy” enough to be themselves and encourage others to do the same. Those are the ones who, unlike the “normal” ones, have the courage to scream: Let us be free. Let’s show our weaknesses to each other. Heal our scars together. Taste the sweetness of empowerment. Unite the good and the bad, the strong and the weak, the black and the white to find all the pieces that got lost within this puzzle of the earth while we were destroying it. Embrace the beauty of contrast and appreciate the harmony they share to let your soul grow.

These are the hardest words to voice in a system based on division and prejudice. A system that tries to “create harmony” by provoking chaos and inequity all the time. This system of cruelty, which does nothing but cause disaster and pain to their victims, should change. Eventually, a time will come to bring an end to this chaos. “Structure” of this nonsense system makes me want to burn everything until the ashes beg me to stop.

Now is time for a change. A silence that resembles infinity. A breath that claims to be a prisoner. A girl who wants to achieve her goal hopelessly. A boy who is crying at his lover’s tears. Whatever there is unpleasant, worn out, surrounded by disparity, we can heal them.

To make the world a better place, one must realise that being yourself and letting others be themselves regardless of whether they seem “crazy” or “normal” to you is essential as labels are the biggest ally of prejudice. After all, the harmony of contrasts is the key to get rid of all the negatives and achieve one of the most special gifts anyone can have: peace of mind.
